Race in the Park

New Britain Police Department’s Tribute to the Race in the Park

The 2011 Race in the Park which raises money for the Breast Health Initiative will kick off tomorrow, May 7th, at Walnut Hill Park in New Britain at 8:00 a.m.  In honor of the day’s event, the New Britain Police Department has decorated a cruiser in the colors of the day, pink and white to include a pink ribbon on the hood of the car.  The cruiser will lead tomorrow’s race and is a tribute on behalf of the New Britain Police Department to the many participants and/or their loved ones who have courageously battled breast cancer.

The idea for the cruiser was initiated by the New Britain Traffic Supervisor Sergeant Robert Martin in conjunction with Sign Pro which is located on Stanley Street in New Britain. Sign Pro donated all the materials to complete the look.  The cruiser will remain pink for the month of May in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The vehicle will also be used at upcoming events including this year’s Memorial Day Parade.
