Fingerprinting - Takes place in the Records
Bureau on the 1st floor of NBPD. $5.00 per card. Pistol permits are done by appointment only. New
Britain residents only, please. Fingerprinting is done on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 10:00AM-12:00PM and
2:00PM until 3:00PM. Records Bureau is open from 10:00AM-3:00PM on Monday through Friday. Schedule an appointment
at 826-3025 for pistol permit fingerprinting.
Vendor's License
- Applications available in the License & Property Bureau on the 1st floor of NBPD. Cost is $250.00 per year. Licenses are required for any itinerant vendors or peddlers
in the city. Certain areas of the city are off-limits to said vendors. Food sales must be approved by the city's
health department first, on a space provided on the vending application. Call 826-3015 for an appointment with the License
& Property Bureau. This permit is required by city ordinance and is enforced.
Bazaars/Raffles
- Applications available in the License & Property Bureau on the 1st floor of NBPD. After approval by the Chief of Police, or his designee, and the Division of Special Revenue
for the State of CT, the applicant is then notified to pick up their permit and paperwork. Fees for bazaars are $20.00
per day. Fees for raffles vary depending on the aggregate value of prizes, with half the fee being paid to the State
of CT and half to the city. Call 826-3015 for an appointment with the License & Property Bureau or for more information.
Hiring
Special Duty Officers - To hire an officer for a special event or for roadwork, contact the License & Property Bureau at 826-3015. You should give the Department at least three business days notice prior
to an event to find an officer to work it. The officer must be paid for at the time the order is placed, in cash, money
order, or business check unless prior arrangements have been made. The rate for an officer for up to four hours is $185.15,
and from anything over four hours up to eight hours the rate is $370.30. After eight hours, the hiring
party is billed on an hourly basis. If a cruiser is requested, a $50.00 fee will be added for the first four
hours. An additional $50.00 is assessed for the next four hours of use of a police vehicle. These figures
include all tax and administrative fees.
